Woodchester Mansion is everything you would expect a haunted house to look like. Its Gothic architecture and dark windows are an imposing sight in the tranquil surroundings. But beneath the stone lies a darker history of death, murder and despair. Dare you venture within?
Compass Paranormal Events have full access to the site for this exclusive ghost hunt with celebrity psychic medium Barrie John.
There has been a dwelling on the site dating back to pre Roman times. No wonder it is a place of so much paranormal activity. Over the years it has been a place of much death and anguish. Historical accounts tell us of death and tragedy in the surrounding grounds, but it is the Mansion itself that is the epicentre of the haunting.
The amount of paranormal activity is so great that it is listed in the top 10 most haunted places in the UK.
As you step in through the front door you find yourself suddenly transported back to the late 1800's, standing amidst what is effectively a Victorian building site. But as soon as you've taken in the amazing sight of fireplaces suspended in mid-air, doorways leading nowhere and the strange undulating floor which is in fact the vaulted ceiling of the cellar below, you have to wonder why it is that the building was never finished. Some of the rooms still have the abandoned workman's tools and equipment. During the building work there were seven deaths six from accidents and a reported murder.

Several locals have reported seeing a headless horseman
A coffin has also been observed hovering above one of the estate's lakes, which possibly belonged to a Dominican friar who killed himself by drowning!

In 1902 a local vicar saw a strange apparition at the gates to the mansion needless to say he never returned to the building again. A few years later a phantom horseman was also seen on the drive dressed in civil war clothing.

The spirit of a young girl has been seen on numerous occasions playing and running up and down the stairs to the first floor
Woodchester mansions cellar is, considered by many to be the most haunted part of the building. The rooms high vaulted ceiling and lack of light, gives the cellar a daunting atmosphere. Behind the many and varied manifestations that have occured in the cellar, there seems to lurk one powerful and possibly demonic presence. On a number of occasions a figure, often described as a 'ragged dwarf', has been seen.
The event will include a group investigation and also breaking into smaller groups to conduct more in depth vigils.
We shall be using all of our ghost hunting equipment, and this will all be made available to you.
Our psychic medium for the night is Barrie John, Tv's Most Haunted medium from series 10.
You can take part in experiments such as table tipping, seances, glass divination and lone vigils in locked of areas (IF YOU DARE).
The night promises to be an event of nail biting fear, dare you venture with us inside this dark and terrifying place.
It is highly recommended that you bring a torch with you to this event as it does get very dark.
And remember to bring a camera and camcorder to capture any paranormal phenomena.
As with any of our events you are welcome to bring along any ghost hunting equipment you may own.

Please wear appropiate clothing as it can get very cold, and flat sturdy footwear.
There are no sleeping facilities available.
This Event involves being awake all Night.
Anyone who arrives under the influence of alcohol or drugs and / or is suspected of bringing alcoholic drinks to the event will not be allowed to participate and will be asked to leave the premises immediately.
£20 deposit option available.
Pay the balance 28 days prior to the event.
Please respect this old building and the land surrounding it. The building is open to the elements and does get very cold, it is also very un even under foot, stout footwear is strongly advised.
