Whittington Castle is steeped in history. The striking picturesque and romantic ruins have tales of bitter border warfare, romance and legends.

Join us as we investigate deep into it's past and reveal the paranormal phenomena regularly reported here.

The sites 3000 year history includes a pre-historic and Saxon settlement, Norman occupation, Robin Hood, Dick Whittington and even links the Holy Grail to the castle.

With so much history it is hardly surprising of the amount of paranormal activity reported here.

The castle has gone through many changes over the years. The site on which it stands was chosen for its natural surrounding defences. The marshlands surrounding were treacherous for invading troops, slowing them down and making them easy targets for the defenders. Welsh invaders regularly attacked the castle, many meeting their peril in their efforts.

The castle has witnessed its fair share of bloody battles. During the Civil war the castle was loyal to the Royalists until Oliver Cromwells Roundheads took it by force in 1643.

the very fabric of this stone castle has absorbed so much emotion, death, murder and sadness, that it is no surprise that it has become a favourite for ghost hunters.

Reported activity at the castle includes:

The spirits of 2 children have been seen peering out of the twin towers.

Staff have reported strange white mists and balls of light appearing from nowhere, along with feelings of being watched.

The sighting of a lone horseman in ancient apparel.

Eerie and unexplained voices.

The sighting of 2 ghosts who walk the grounds are said to be that of Lord faulk andf Lady Hauise. Their spirits are said to linger here through their love for the castle.

Dark shadows and unusual moans are a regular reported phenomena.

Join our team and guest medium and see what we discover.

This is your oppurtunity to handle and be taught how to use our ghost hunting equipment correctly, ready for your own vigils.

We will then embark on a tour of the grounds with our team and medium, where who knows what we shall uncover.

You will have the oppurtunity to break off in your smaller teams and conduct your own vigils, under the watchful eyes of our experienced team.

You will constantly have the oppurtunity to join in with experiments such as table tipping, seances and glass divination.

If you dare, you can choose to stay alone in areas which we know to be of strong paranormal activity, but be warned we will be carrying out experiments to encourage ghostly happenings.

Whittington Castle is a very active paranormal location, therefore guests are reminded to expect the un expected.

Remember to bring a torch and camera / camcorder to the event, you never know what you may catch !
